Ex-CIA Agent leaking Classified Information Gets Charged

We learned this week about the case with Snowden and how he was alarmed by the CIA's ability to track every single one of our phones and messages that are sent. They are able to see all our information at all times. This scares a lot of people and it sure scared Snowden enough for him to leak this information. However, he isn't the only one. Joshua Schulte, a formed CIA employee, was charged with leaking classified information to the website WikiLeaks. This stirred a pot of emotions of for some people as they realized how much access the government has to our files.

Cases like this made the public really freak out over the fact they were being regulated for everything, yet we had no access to the government. This is when FOIA was truly used in favor of the public. FOIA is the Freedom of Information Act, where we can ask for any file electronically from the government and we have the right to see that file as well. Anyone who is a U.S. citizen can ask for FOIA. This way the government can be more open with us citizens about the choices they are making, as well as the issues that are being discussed. This act was originally created in 1966 and it provides that any person has access to any government records.

However, as we see above not all records are for the public eye but are being monitored by only certain individuals. This freaks me out a little bit that the government can monitor all we are doing at all times. It is an invasion of privacy per say.
